Business Central versions: release dates and support end

Support dates checked against the official Microsoft Lifecycle pages, last updated August 2026.

Microsoft releases two major Business Central versions per year: wave 1 in April and wave 2 in October. On-premises, each version is supported for 18 months after release under the Modern Lifecycle Policy. The current version is BC 28 (2026 release wave 1, released April 1, 2026), and BC 29 is expected in October 2026.

Frequently asked questions

What is the latest version of Business Central?

The latest on-premises version is BC 28 (2026 release wave 1), released April 1, 2026. Business Central online is continuously updated, so online tenants always run the current version. BC 29 (2026 release wave 2) is expected in October 2026.

How long is a Business Central version supported?

Under the Modern Lifecycle Policy, each Business Central on-premises major version is supported for 18 months after release. Business Central online has no per-version end dates because it is continuously updated. BC 14 was a Fixed Policy exception: its extended support ended October 15, 2025.

Which Business Central versions are out of support?

BC 25 and everything older are out of support. BC 25 (2024 release wave 2) support ended April 5, 2026, and BC 24 (2024 release wave 1) ended October 8, 2025. The next deadline is BC 26, whose support ends October 14, 2026.

When is BC 29 released?

BC 29 (2026 release wave 2) is expected in October 2026, with support expected to end around April 2028. It is not yet listed on the official Microsoft Lifecycle pages, so both dates remain expected until Microsoft confirms them.
