Business Central 25: release date, support end, what shipped

Support dates verified against the official Microsoft Lifecycle pages, last updated August 2026.

Business Central 25 is the 2024 release wave 2, released on October 1, 2024. Under Microsoft's Modern Policy its on-premises support ended on April 5, 2026, so it no longer receives updates or security fixes. Business Central online is not affected: it is continuously updated.

Business Central 25 key dates

The BC 25 lifecycle in four milestones:

  • Release date: October 1, 2024, the day the version became generally available.
  • End of support: April 5, 2026, the last day of updates and security fixes for on-premises deployments.
  • 2024 release wave 2 under the Modern Policy: each major version is supported for 18 months after release.
  • Out of support today: no more security patches, no hotfixes, and no Microsoft assistance for on-premises BC 25.

What shipped in Business Central 25

BC 25 continued the AI and e-invoicing build-out started in BC 24. The highlights:

  • Expanded Copilot experiences: analysis assist and summaries brought Copilot into more everyday work.
  • Broader e-documents scenarios and additional service integrations, continuing the e-invoicing framework build-out.
  • Expanded sustainability tracking, alongside platform performance work under the hood.

Should you still be on BC 25 in 2026?

No. BC 25 has been out of support since April 5, 2026, which means no security fixes and no compliance updates. Plan the jump now and target BC 27 or BC 28 rather than BC 26, whose own support ends on October 14, 2026. Moving to a current version also opens up the modern AI tooling around Business Central online, such as an AI agent for Business Central you use in chat, and AP automation that turns supplier PDFs into drafts you approve.
