Business Central deadlines: the 2026 to 2028 calendar

The next Business Central deadlines are the French e-invoicing mandate on September 1, 2026 and the end of support for BC 26 on October 14, 2026. Further out, BC 27 support ends on April 6, 2027 and BC 28 on October 13, 2027. Dynamics NAV support ends for good on January 12, 2028, when NAV 2018 leaves extended support.

Next deadline

Support for Business Central 26 ends on October 14, 2026. On-premises and hosted deployments still on version 26 should plan their upgrade now; Business Central online updates automatically.

The calendar, 2026 to 2028

Every date that matters for Business Central and NAV users, in chronological order. Microsoft support deadlines and e-invoicing mandates appear side by side on purpose: both drive upgrade planning.

  • September 1, 2026: France. All companies must be able to receive e-invoices; large and mid-size companies must also issue them. Details in our French e-invoicing guide.
  • October 2026 (expected): general availability of BC 29. More in our 2026 release wave 2 guide.
  • October 14, 2026: end of support for Business Central 26 (2025 release wave 1).
  • January 1, 2027: Germany. Companies above EUR 800k turnover must issue e-invoices. Details in our E-Rechnung guide.
  • January 12, 2027: extended support ends for Dynamics NAV 2017.
  • April 6, 2027: end of support for Business Central 27 (2025 release wave 2).
  • September 1, 2027: France. SMEs must issue e-invoices. Full timeline in our French e-invoicing guide.
  • October 13, 2027: end of support for Business Central 28 (2026 release wave 1).
  • January 1, 2028: Germany. E-invoice issuing becomes mandatory for all companies. See the E-Rechnung guide.
  • January 12, 2028: extended support ends for NAV 2018. This is the final NAV deadline: after this date, no NAV version is supported.
  • 2028 (expected): Belgium plans 5-corner near-real-time reporting. Background in our Peppol guide.

These deadlines are already behind us. If one of them still applies to your setup, you are already late.

  • October 8, 2025: support ended for Business Central 24 (2024 release wave 1).
  • October 15, 2025: extended support ended for BC 14 (Spring 2019), the last version with C/AL customizations. All versions in our versions hub.
  • April 5, 2026: support ended for Business Central 25 (2024 release wave 2).
  • April 15, 2026: extended support ended for NAV 2016.

Frequently asked questions

What is the next Business Central deadline?

Two deadlines arrive close together: on September 1, 2026 all companies in France must be able to receive e-invoices, and on October 14, 2026 support for Business Central 26 ends. If you run BC 26 on-premises, the upgrade to BC 27 or BC 28 should be planned now.

When does BC 26 support end?

Business Central 26 (2025 release wave 1) was released on April 1, 2025 and its support ends on October 14, 2026. The date matters for on-premises and hosted deployments; Business Central online updates continuously and is always on the current version.

When does Dynamics NAV support end completely?

On January 12, 2028, when extended support for NAV 2018 ends. NAV 2017 reaches the same point on January 12, 2027, and extended support for NAV 2016 already ended on April 15, 2026. Mainstream support for all NAV versions had ended by early 2023.

Which e-invoicing deadlines affect Business Central users?

France: from September 1, 2026 all companies must be able to receive e-invoices and large and mid-size companies must issue them; SMEs follow on September 1, 2027. Germany: issuing becomes mandatory on January 1, 2027 above EUR 800k turnover and on January 1, 2028 for all companies. Belgium: Peppol B2B e-invoicing has been live since January 1, 2026, with 5-corner reporting expected in 2028.
