Dynamics NAV end of support: dates for every version

Support dates checked against Microsoft Lifecycle official pages. Last updated August 2026.

Mainstream support has ended for every Dynamics NAV version. Under extended support, NAV 2017 is covered until January 12, 2027 and NAV 2018 until January 12, 2028, the final NAV deadline. Everything older is already out of support: NAV 2016 extended support ended April 15, 2026.

NAV end-of-support dates by version

All NAV versions follow Microsoft's Fixed Lifecycle Policy: mainstream support ended by early 2023 for every version, and only the extended phase remains for the two newest releases. The dates that matter:

  • NAV 2018: extended support ends January 12, 2028. This is the final NAV deadline: after it, no Dynamics NAV version receives security updates.
  • NAV 2017: extended support ends January 12, 2027. Mainstream support ended long ago, so only security updates remain until then.
  • NAV 2016: extended support ended April 15, 2026. This version is already out of support today.
  • NAV 2015 and older: all out of support. NAV 2015 extended support ended January 15, 2025; NAV 2013 and 2013 R2 have been fully unsupported since January 2023 or earlier.

What running unsupported NAV actually means

An unsupported NAV system does not stop working. But the conditions around it change, and they change in one direction:

  • No security patches: vulnerabilities found after the end-of-support date stay open. Exposure grows over time, and auditors and cyber insurers increasingly ask about it.
  • Compliance pressure: e-invoicing mandates assume modern connectivity. France requires all companies to receive e-invoices from September 1, 2026, Germany phases in mandatory issuing during 2027 and 2028, and Belgium's Peppol B2B mandate has been live since January 1, 2026. Meeting these on NAV means custom work on a frozen platform.
  • Ecosystem decay: integrations, ISV add-ons and partner skills are moving to Business Central. Every year, finding tools and people that still target NAV gets harder and more expensive.

Your options from NAV

The standard path off NAV is an upgrade to Business Central. Its online version is continuously updated, so end-of-support deadlines stop being your problem. There are two routes: a reimplementation on Business Central online, or a technical migration using Microsoft's tooling, usually run by a partner. The right choice depends on how customized your NAV is; heavily customized C/AL systems often favor reimplementation. Business Central online is the recommended target because it stays permanently current.
