Swiss QR-bill

Read Swiss QR-bills in Business Central

The Swiss QR-bill replaced the old orange and red payment slips, and every Swiss supplier invoice now carries a Swiss QR Code. Zentriq reads that QR-bill directly into Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, so the vendor invoice is captured, matched and ready to pay without anyone retyping an IBAN or a payment reference.

What is a Swiss QR-bill?

A Swiss QR-bill (QR-Rechnung in German, QR-facture in French) is the standardised invoice payment part that has been mandatory in Switzerland since October 2022, when it replaced the orange ISR and red inpayment slips. Its Swiss QR Code holds everything a bank needs to execute the payment.

For an accounts payable team that means every incoming supplier invoice already carries structured, machine-readable payment data. The question is simply whether your ERP can read it, or whether someone still keys it in by hand.

How Zentriq reads a QR-bill into Business Central

Zentriq Document Capture scans the QR-bill from a PDF or a photo, decodes the Swiss QR Code and reads the rest of the invoice with AI. It then creates a vendor purchase invoice in Business Central with the creditor, the QR-IBAN, the amount and the payment reference already filled in.

No template to configure per supplier, and no manual typing of the reference number. A Swiss QR-bill that used to take a minute to enter becomes a captured, ready-to-approve invoice in seconds.

What the Swiss QR Code contains

The Swiss QR Code on a QR-bill carries the full payment instruction, which Zentriq maps onto the matching Business Central fields:

  • Creditor IBAN or QR-IBAN, the supplier account the payment goes to, mapped to the vendor bank account.
  • Amount and currency (CHF or EUR), used for the invoice total and three-way matching.
  • Payment reference, the QR reference or Creditor Reference (SCOR), written to the invoice so the payment reconciles automatically.
  • Creditor and debtor details, used to identify the vendor and confirm the invoice is addressed to your company.

From QR-bill to a posted, ready-to-pay invoice

Once captured, the data becomes a draft purchase invoice in Business Central. You review it on screen, and nothing is posted until you approve, so the QR reference and IBAN are checked by a human before any payment is prepared.

From there the invoice follows your normal Business Central process: matching, posting and payment, with the payment reference already in place. You can also ask the Zentriq Agent in natural language to pull it up or post it.

Why it matters for Swiss companies

Reading the Swiss QR-bill instead of retyping it removes the single most error-prone step in Swiss accounts payable:

  • No mistyped QR reference or IBAN, so payments reconcile the first time.
  • Faster invoice entry, from a minute of manual keying to a few seconds.
  • A clean audit trail, because the captured data comes straight from the QR-bill.

Swiss QR-bill in Business Central: FAQ

Can Business Central read a Swiss QR-bill?

Not on its own. Business Central has no built-in Swiss QR-bill reader for incoming supplier invoices. Zentriq Document Capture adds it: it decodes the Swiss QR Code and creates the vendor invoice for you.

How do I import a QR-bill into Business Central?

Upload the QR-bill as a PDF or photo to Zentriq Document Capture. It reads the Swiss QR Code and the invoice, then creates a draft purchase invoice in Business Central with the IBAN, amount and payment reference filled in, ready for your approval.

Does Zentriq support QR-IBAN and the Creditor Reference?

Yes. Zentriq reads both the QR-IBAN with its QR reference and a normal IBAN with a Creditor Reference (SCOR), and writes the reference to the Business Central invoice so the payment reconciles automatically.

What replaced the orange and red payment slips in Switzerland?

The Swiss QR-bill, mandatory since October 2022, replaced the orange ISR and red inpayment slips. Every Swiss invoice now carries a Swiss QR Code with the full payment instruction.
