How to Run Financial Reports (P&L, Balance Sheet) in Business Central

Open Financial Reports (formerly Account Schedules), pick the income statement or balance sheet report, set the date filter and the view, and compare periods with a column definition. Or ask the Zentriq Agent for the P&L as a chart in one sentence.

Step-by-step guide

1

Open Financial Reports

In Business Central, use the search bar (Alt+Q) and type 'Financial Reports'. This is the page formerly known as Account Schedules: each report combines a row definition (which G/L accounts) with a column definition (which figures).

2

Pick a report

Business Central ships with ready-made reports for the income statement and the balance sheet. Select one and click 'View Financial Report' to open the report overview.

3

Set the date filter

In the overview, enter a Date Filter such as 01.01.26..31.03.26 and use 'View by' to switch between Day, Week, Month, Quarter, Year, or Accounting Period. Balance sheet rows show the balance at date, income statement rows show the net change of the period.

4

Compare periods

To show the prior year next to the current one, assign a column definition with a Comparison Date Formula such as -1Y. You can also step through the periods with the Previous Period and Next Period actions.

5

Print or export

Click 'Print' for a formatted report or 'Export to Excel' to continue the analysis in a spreadsheet. Dimension filters, for cost centers or departments, can be applied before exporting.

The faster way with Zentriq

Ask the Zentriq Agent 'show me the P&L for this quarter as a chart' and it reads your G/L entries and renders the chart right in the chat: reading your data never changes anything in Business Central.
