Create dimensions and their values, promote your two most important ones to global dimensions, add up to six shortcut dimensions, then set default dimensions on accounts, customers, and vendors so entries get tagged automatically. Once set up, you can ask the Zentriq Agent for any figure filtered by dimension.
Use the search bar (Alt+Q) and type 'Dimensions'. Click 'New' and enter a Code (for example DEPARTMENT or PROJECT) and a Name. Keep the list short, most companies need four to eight dimensions.
Select the dimension and click 'Dimension' > 'Dimension Values'. Enter a code and name per value (for example SALES, ADMIN, PROD). Use the Dimension Value Type field to add Heading and Total lines for reporting rollups.
In 'General Ledger Setup', run the 'Change Global Dimensions' action. The two global dimensions are stored on every ledger entry and can filter virtually every list and report, so pick the two you analyze most. Changing them later triggers a heavy background update, so decide carefully.
Still in 'General Ledger Setup', on the Dimensions FastTab, fill Shortcut Dimension 3 to 8. Shortcut dimensions appear as optional columns on journal and document lines, so users can enter them without opening the dimensions dialog.
Open a G/L account, customer, vendor, or item card and go to 'Related' > 'Dimensions'. Add the Dimension Code and a Dimension Value Code, then set Value Posting: 'Code Mandatory' forces users to pick a value, 'Same Code' locks it to one value. This is how entries get tagged consistently without manual work.
With dimensions in place, ask the Zentriq Agent things like 'revenue by department this quarter' or 'expenses for project ALPHA in June': it filters the G/L entries by dimension and answers in the chat, read-only, no report setup needed.
