Set up a bank statement import format (such as camt.053 or CSV) in Bank Export/Import Setup, assign it to your bank account, then import the file into a Payment Reconciliation Journal to apply payments, or into a Bank Account Reconciliation. Business Central matches most lines automatically.
In Business Central, use the search bar (Alt+Q) and type 'Bank Export/Import Setup'. Check that a format matching your bank's file exists, for example camt.053 (the ISO 20022 standard used across Europe and Switzerland), MT940, or a CSV format based on a data exchange definition. Available formats depend on your localization.
Open the Bank Account Card for the account and set the Bank Statement Import Format field to the format from step 1. Without it, BC cannot read the file.
To apply customer and vendor payments, search for 'Payment Reconciliation Journals', open a journal for your bank account, and click 'Import Bank Transactions'. Select the statement file: BC creates one line per bank transaction and applies them to open ledger entries automatically.
Check the Match Confidence on each line and use 'Apply Manually' where BC found no counterpart. When everything is applied, click 'Post Payments and Reconcile Bank Account' to post the applications and close the statement in one go.
For a classic bank rec without posting payments, search for 'Bank Account Reconciliations', create a new one, enter the Statement Date and Statement Ending Balance, then click 'Import Bank Statement' followed by 'Match Automatically'. Resolve the remaining differences and post the reconciliation.
The Zentriq Agent does not replace the file import, but it speeds up the cleanup: ask it 'which customer invoices are still open for over 30 days' while you reconcile, and any journal line it drafts for you waits for your approval before posting.
