How to Create a Sales Order in Business Central

Navigate to Sales Orders, click New, select a customer, add item lines with quantities, then release the order. Or use the Zentriq Agent to create a sales order draft from a single sentence.

Step-by-step guide

1

Open Sales Orders

In Business Central, use the search bar (Alt+Q) and type 'Sales Orders'. Click the page to open the Sales Orders list.

2

Create a new order

Click 'New' to create a blank Sales Order. A new order number is assigned automatically from the number series.

3

Select the customer

In the Customer Name field, enter the customer's name or number and pick it from the lookup. Payment terms, currency, and addresses are auto-filled from the Customer Card.

4

Add item lines

In the Lines section, set Type to 'Item', then enter the Item No. and Quantity. The unit price comes from the Item Card or your active sales prices and discounts. Check the Shipment Date on each line.

5

Review and release

Verify the totals and the requested delivery date, then click 'Release' to make the order official. Shipping and invoicing are posted later with the 'Post' action (Ship, Invoice, or both).

The faster way with Zentriq

Type 'Create a sales order for customer 10000 with 20 units of item 1936-S' in the Zentriq Agent and it builds the order as a draft for you to review, nothing is posted without your approval.
