How to Create and Post a Sales Invoice in Business Central

Open Sales Invoices, click New, select the customer, add item or G/L account lines, verify totals and VAT, then click Post. Or let the Zentriq Agent draft the invoice for you from a short chat message.

Step-by-step guide

1

Open Sales Invoices

In Business Central, use the search bar (Alt+Q) and type 'Sales Invoices'. Open the list and click 'New' to create a direct invoice, no sales order needed.

2

Select the customer

In the Customer Name field, enter the customer's name or number. The Posting Date is prefilled with your work date (usually today) and the Due Date is calculated from the customer's payment terms.

3

Add invoice lines

In the Lines section, choose Type 'Item' for products or 'G/L Account' for services and fees. Enter the No., Quantity, and check the Unit Price on each line.

4

Review totals and VAT

Check Total Excl. VAT, the VAT amount, and Total Incl. VAT below the lines. Use 'Posting' > 'Preview Posting' to see the ledger entries before committing anything.

5

Post the invoice

Click 'Post', or 'Post and Send' to email the invoice to the customer in the same step. BC creates the posted sales invoice and the customer ledger entry. A posted invoice can only be reversed with a credit memo.

The faster way with Zentriq

Tell the Zentriq Agent 'Invoice customer 20000 for 5 hours of consulting at 150' and it drafts the sales invoice for your review, posting only happens after you approve.
