Open the Items list, click New, pick an item template if prompted, then set the type (Inventory, Service, or Non-Inventory), the base unit of measure, the posting groups, and the cost and price. Or ask the Zentriq Agent to draft the item card from a single sentence.
In Business Central, use the search bar (Alt+Q) and type 'Items'. Open the Items list and click 'New'. If item templates are set up, BC may ask you to select one and pre-fills posting groups and other defaults.
The No. field is filled automatically from the number series, or you can type your own code. Enter a clear Description, it is what users will see on sales and purchase lines.
Set Type to 'Inventory' for physical goods you track in stock, 'Service' for labor and services, or 'Non-Inventory' for physical items you don't track. Then pick the Base Unit of Measure, for example PCS or HOUR. It cannot be changed easily once entries exist.
On the Costs & Posting FastTab, fill in the Gen. Prod. Posting Group, the VAT Prod. Posting Group, and, for inventory items, the Inventory Posting Group. These control which G/L accounts BC posts to, so copy them from a similar existing item if in doubt.
Choose the Costing Method (FIFO, Standard, or Average) and enter the Unit Cost on Costs & Posting, then the sales Unit Price on the Prices & Sales FastTab. The item is now ready to use on documents.
Type 'Create an inventory item called Alpine desk, base unit PCS, sales price 490' in the Zentriq Agent and it drafts the complete item card, posting groups included, then waits for your approval before anything is created in Business Central.
